Short post today.
I took my SC-100 exam today and I passed with a score of 804 (Out of 1000).
I cannot go into the contents of the exam (As per examination rules) but I will say that the previous certifications that I’ve passed were really were handy. As you may know you are required to have 1 of 3 different certifications to get the SC-100 qualification. You can technically do the SC-100 first, but that’s not recommended and you won’t get the certification (Until you do the prereq after). I have all 3 different prerequisites (SC-200, SC-300, AZ-500) which I took in that order.
The exam is as per the study guide, more based on a high-level overview of the different Microsoft services, you do not need deep in-depth technical knowledge.
When taking the exam, I would HIGHLY recommend using the ‘Microsoft Learn’ features which are on top right. I’m not sure if I would of passed without it. My suggestion is marking any questions that you are not sure on the answer, then coming back to it at the end.
I think what’s so good about the SC-100 is that you really have to learn a bit of every Microsoft security service. There were certain security tools which I was not that familiar with, which now I know. I think the ‘Security Architect’ is exactly what it says on the tin. It’s not about the super technical side of things, it’s about a general architecture of different security. Personally, I wouldn’t say you need to be an ‘Expert’ to pass it, but it does require a prerequisite.
I’d highly suggest watching John Savill’s video on the SC-100. As well his video on Zero Trust. I believe he has a playlist of videos. I also watched a Udemy course, which was good to get a visual aid. I went through some of Microsoft’s documentation, as it’s to technical and I find that you really need to see what you are doing than just reading it.
